LV= Streetwise is part of the Streetwise Partnership Trust Ltd, a registered charity (Regd charity number: 1058562) and a company limited by guarantee (Company No: 3251868).
Although it is partly supported by the Dorset statutory authorities, emergency services and LV=, it operates independently of them. Their support in conjunction with sponsorship, grants and donations combines with the small admission fee to help to cover running costs of over £250,000 per annum.
Opened in November 1998, it is a multi-agency partnership project inspired and created by Dorset’s emergency services, local authorities, health authority and over 400 partners from the business community. The centre celebrated its 10th Anniversary in November 2008.
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of LV Streetwise. Every year thousands of children are injured in accidents that could have been prevented if someone had warned them of the dangers and given them the knowledge and the confidence to cope.
Over 60 volunteers are currently registered as safety Guides to deliver Safety Tours. The centre is always fully booked by schools throughout term time and caters for over 12,000 children every year. However, LV Streetwise is always in need of more volunteers as not only is demand increasing but natural turnover of volunteers also takes its toll. Trustees and Management Committee
To deliver its aims and objectives the charity is supported by a Board of Trustees and a Management Committee bringing a wide range of experience and expertise from the world of business, the emergency services and statutory authorities.
There are three management committee meetings a year, held approximately three weeks before each February, June and October trustee meeting. Ad hoc groups are set up to support parts of the business plan and centre operation as required and are open to any interested trustee or management committee member who have expressed an interest in that particular field.
