The event was targeted at people working directly with children up to 7 years old and it enabled delegates to discover safety ideas and information in bite-sized memorable chunks. As a result they took away practical tools and information to help them deliver child safety messages in a fun and engaging way - almost as if by accident! Colin Morris - RoSPA - presenting finger puppets

The action and inspiration packed programme included a FREE Safety Sack of useful items for spreading the messages.  Elmrise Primary's Jack and Jade with Julie Lankshear from Caring Canines demonstrating 'How to be a tree'

 

 

 


The event was described by delegates as 'interesting', 'thought-provoking', 'well-presented' and 'valuable'. Their feedback also included comments about changes they would make as a result of attending including "I will be feeding back to four children’sDebbie Lock of IMPS with poorly 'Elfie' centre teams what I have learnt today and as a whole team we will adapt our practice where needed", "Will suggest additional child safety equipment for distribution", "(We will change) the way we think and follow up safety equipment given out to families". 

Delegates attending the event, which was coordinated by LV= Streetwise and the South West Home and Leisure Safety Council, also travelled from Portsmouth, Southampton and Devizes and was such a success that more similar events are planned for next year.
