Could you volunteer for LV Streetwise?

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the safety centre and ensure that the children who pass through the LV Streetwise experience leave better equipped to cope in difficult situations. As a Safety Guide, volunteers are trained to help open children’s eyes to potential dangers and help them learn how to stay safe.

There are also other valuable spin-offs for the volunteers - there is a clear social element as they join a new circle of like-minded people and share their Safety Tour experiences as well as many gaining hugely in confidence in readiness for re-entering the world of paid work. Volunteering ... click here for larger image

“Giving up some spare time to help others has great rewards. If I can help make the world a little less frightening for the children, I have achieved my goal.”

“I really enjoy it. Since I retired I’d been looking for something to do which doesn’t over commit me. At LV Streetwise I feel I’m doing something worthwhile for the Community”.

Debriefing in the park

“Not only do I gain experience working with children for my future career, but volunteering looks great to potential employers on my CV!”

“In my job in A&E I see many injuries from preventable accidents and the trauma that the families involved go through. At LV Streetwise I know that the things that the children are learning can make a difference and if I can keep just one child out of casualty then I feel that I have achieved a very worthwhile thing.”

“The other volunteers at Streetwise come from all walks of life - some are retired, some are professionals such as teachers and emergency services personnel and some are students, some are parents with spare time during the day – and they all have knowledge to share and stories to tell. I have learnt so many things from them.”
